About APARNET
The Asia Pacific Academic Recognition Network (APARNET) was established to
facilitate discussion and the exchange of information amongst the National
Information Centres of the
UNESCO Regional Convention on the Recognition of
Studies, Diplomas and Degrees in Higher Education in Asia and the Pacific
.
APARNET consists of this website and a listserv (email based information sharing forum). The listserv enables members to easily exchange email messages with all other members of the Network, making it fast and simple to ask and respond to questions from any participating country in the Asia-Pacific region. Questions and comments sent to the listserv are archived on the APARNET website so that members can continue to refer to this information.
The aims of APARNET will help to achieve one of the objectives of the Regional Convention to assist in the collection, dissemination and exchange of information relating to the recognition of academic qualifications and higher education systems within the Asia Pacific region (Article 10-2).
The initiative for this discussion forum arose from the recommendations of
the
Sixth Session of the Regional Committee Meeting
in Bangkok (November 2000)
‘to establish an electronic network of regional national information centres to
facilitate exchange of information on education systems and qualifications’.
The initial development of this site was a joint initiative between the
UNESCO Asia
and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education
as
secretariat to the Regional Convention Committee and Australia as the Chair
of the Regional Committee from November 2000 to March 2003.
